Frequently asked questions

Which hash algorithms are supported?

MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 and more, computed in the browser using WebAssembly for speed.

Is my input uploaded to compute the hash?

No. Hashing happens locally in your browser; your data is never transmitted.

How do I verify a downloaded file's checksum?

Use Hash file (or drop the file) on the Hash Generator tab, then paste the published checksum into Verify Hash to see which algorithm it matches. The file is hashed in your browser and not uploaded.

How can I tell what type of hash a string is?

Paste it into the Hash Identifier tab. It suggests likely algorithms based on length and format, though several algorithms can share a format so treat it as a hint.

Can I hash many strings at once?

Yes. The Batch Hash tab hashes each line separately.

Which algorithms are supported?

MD5, MD4, NTLM, SHA-1, SHA-256/384/512, SHA3-256, RIPEMD-160, Whirlpool, BLAKE2b/BLAKE2s/BLAKE3, CRC-16/32/64 and Adler-32, plus HMAC when you enter a key. The Password Hasher tab covers Argon2, scrypt and bcrypt.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — your input is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded or stored on a server.
