Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded to a server?

Yes, by design. Creating an endpoint uses smee.io to receive real incoming requests over the public internet; "Send Test" sends a request to whatever URL you configure.

How do I get a webhook URL to test?

Click Create New Endpoint to get a unique temporary public URL powered by smee.io. Send HTTP POST requests to it and they appear in the tool in real time with their headers and body.

Can I simulate a signed webhook?

Yes, the Signed Payload Simulator tab generates an HMAC-signed request for providers such as Stripe, GitHub, Slack and Shopify, or a generic HMAC. The Live Listener can also verify a received signature and resend a captured request.

Does the endpoint run in my browser?

No. The endpoint is hosted by smee.io, so requests sent to it pass through that service and are streamed to your open page.
